In the NumberDefectsPerUnitControlChart example for variable attribute charts, I set chart.AutoLogAlarmsAsNotes = true and I see some strange alarm notes created for every subgroup, which also fires the alarm event, yet no alarm is actually shown on the table. The note text is like:

4/3/2018 2:35:49 PM
Primary chart: Basic Rule #1 violation 1 of 1 less than -3-sigma=8.42
Current Value=0.25

I would like to continue putting alarm descriptions in the notes, but not sure if this is valid.

We can't reproduce what you describe using the TimeAttributeControlsCharts.NumberDefectsPerUnitControlChart example. It is probably some combination of when you are enabling the Alarm Event Handler and/or turning on the datalog. In order for us to see what is happening you will need to supply us with a zipped project which demonstrates the issue.
