Downloaded the QCChart2D and QCSPCChart NET demos to try out in VS 2005 (Visual Basic). Ran the setup programs and opened the vs2005 example SPCApplication1. It won't compile. I set all the com references, but it looks like I'm missing lots of stuff. Specifically, as an example, "Dim charttype As Integer = SPCControlChartData.MEAN_RANGE_CHART" has a blue line under it and says something along the lines of "Reference required to assembly QCChart2DNet, version 1.6.1.4, culture=nuetral,Public key token blah blah containing thr base class "com.quinn-curtis.chart2dnet.ChartObj". Add to your project."

Sorry, you are having problems using the trial version of the SPC Control Chart Tools. We downloaded a copy of the trial version from the web site, this morning, loaded and ran the VB 2005 versions of the example programs without any errors. Nothing needs to be done after you install the software. You should be able to immediately go to the examples2005 directory and run the examples.
You say you downloaded both QCChart2D and QCSPCChart trial versions. I assume that this means you installed them both. You do not need to do that. The QCSPCChart trial version includes the complete QCChart2D software. Try and delete the Quinn-Curtis directory and just install the QCSPCChart trial version. Then try and run the examples again.
Can you think of anything unusual about your computer setup or .Net VS installation that might be related to the problem? Did you used something other than the defaults when you ran our installation program?

I deleted the entire qc directory and reinstalled the QCSPCChart stuff. And I have the same problem. I can't think of anything on my system out of the ordinary.
I will try it on another computer this weekend and follow up with the results one way or the other. My apologies for the problems I'm having - I really look forward to trying it out. I'm almost certain I will buy it at some point in time if it works as I expect it to. |

We decided that there was something wrong with the VB 2005 projects. It is somehow attributed to the DLL's, though the problem did not show up when using the same DLLs with VS 2003 or VS 2001.
We re-made the DLLs and uploaded the DLLs to the web site. If you download the trial version again and install it you will get the newer DLLs. You should be able to use the VB 2005 projects as-is, with no further changes.
Let us know if you continue to have problems.

Thanks! I deleted my old stuff, downloaded the latest version, installed, and everything ran perfectly.
Good job...I don't feel like an idiot anymore... |
