Is QCChart2D CF supported under Windows Mobile 5.0? Every time I run an example app or my own custom app under WM 5.0, I get a message saying that my license to use QCChart2D CF has expired. Just FYI - I signed up for a trial license a few hours ago.

Here is a step-by-step guide to what I'm trying to do:

1) Load up sample project (BankAmerica, et al) in VS 2005.
2) Accept default options to convert VS 2003 project to VS 2005 project.
3) Build and deploy onto Windows Mobile 5.0 device.

With both my own custom project as well as the samples, I have verified that the license file is indeed included as an embedded resource for the project.

Any help that you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Aaron

There is nothing in the software that is specific to any version of Windows Mobile. It is written around the version of .Net CF that ships with VS 2003, 2005.

We downloaded the trial software from the web site and ran the example programs sucessfully using the Windows PC 2003 SE Emulator, and all of the emulators that ship with VS 2005.

What are your results when you deploy our example programs (BankAmerica) to one of the Pocket PC 2003 emulators that are included with VS 2005 ?

Are you running your programs using a Windows Mobile 5.0 physical device, an emulator, or both ?

Just now, I re-extracted the zip file I downloaded after signing up for the 30-day trial. I ran the BankAmerica sample program on a Pocket PC 2003 device (Dell Axim X51), the Pocket PC 2003 emulator, a Pocket PC 2005 device (the same Dell Axim X51), and the Pocket PC 2005 emulator. In all of these instances, I get the same error - a grey screen with a box containing the message:

"Your license to use the QCChart2D CF software has expired. Use this opportunity to purchase the product from our web site."

Keep in mind this is the sample program BankAmerica - I did not modify the code at all. The only thing I did was accept the default options to convert the VS 2003 project to VS 2005 (VS 2005 prompts you to do this whenever opening a VS 2003 project). According to the converson log, no errors occurred during the conversion.

I've verified that the QCLicenseCF.lic.xml file is part of the BankAmerica project, and that it is set as an embedded resource. Here is my QCLicenseCF.lic.xml file for reference:

<?xml version="1.0" standalone="yes"?>
<QCLicenseDataSet>
<xs:schema id="QCLicenseDataSet" xmlns="" xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:msdata="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:xml-msdata">
<xs:element name="QCLicenseDataSet" msdata:IsDataSet="true" msdata:Locale="en">

</LicenseStringTable>
<LicenseStringTable>
<String>Friday, December 15, 2006</String>
</LicenseStringTable>
<LicenseStringTable>
<String>Wednesday, January 24, 2007</String>
</LicenseStringTable>
<LicenseStringTable>

</LicenseStringTable>
<LicenseStringTable>
<String>Quinn-Curtis, Inc.</String>
</LicenseStringTable>
</QCLicenseDataSet>

I've tried everything and can't figure out what the problem is. Perhaps I'll try to download another trial from the web site and see if I have any different luck.

Thanks,
Aaron

Well I downloaded a new trial from the web site and still got the same problem.

At the moment, we're porting a client's application from the PC over to Windows Mobile 5.0. For their PC app, they're using the QCChart2D library. So it would be perfect if we could use the QCChart2D CF library on the mobile side. But if we can't, then we'll have to move in a totally different direction w/regards to implementing the graphing/charting functions.

If there is any other information you need me to provide to diagnose this problem, feel free to ask. And once again, thanks in advance for your time.

We still trying to figure out your problem and your answers to the following questions will help.

1. Was your installation on Dec. 15 the first time you ever installed the trial software? Or did you perhaps install the software earlier, not use it, then download and install another copy of the trial software ?

2. Exactly what folder did the QCLicenseCF.lic.xml you posted come from? Choices include the original QCChart2DCFInstall\ installation folder, the Quinn-Curtis\ folder, or the Quinn-Curtis\..\BankAmerica\ example program folder.

3. Do you have access to another computer with VS 2003, or VS 2005, that you can install the software on ? It should never have had a previous installation of the software on it. If so, do it, and see if you can run the demos without the expiration error message.

Hi,

I solved the problem. You were correct - I did have an older license for QCChart2D CF on my system. It was installed along with the non-CF QCChart2D license a few months ago, and I never had an opportunity to try it. I tried running the trial demo on a different machine and I encountered no issues.

I just purchased the full developer license, and that license works fine on my current machine.

Thanks for your help!

Aaron
