It appears that the default tooltip for the Frequency Histogram shows the center point on the X axis for each bar along with the frequency of the data elements that fall within each bar's range. This is somewhat confusing to me because even when I use integer values and an increment of 1, the tooltip that is displayed for the first few bars is 0.5, 1.5, 2.5 etc.
I understand that I can use fractions in the limits and make the tooltip values fall on whole numbers if I want to, but that is not really the issue. If I have a set of values for a bar that are in the range of 40-45, it just seems odd to look at this data range as "42.5".
Therefore, I think that I might like to show the "from" and the "to" range values (along with the frequency of course) for each bar in the tooltip (i.e. {0-1, 25} instead of {0.5, 25}).
Alternatively, it might be okay just showing the end value of the data range {1, 25} because the values I am using always run sequentially anyway and this would make it easy to extrapolate the real data range by simply looking at the current bar's and the previous bar's end values.
So, my question is this... is there an easy way to change the datatooltip on the frequency histogram to display one of the formats that I described above?

There is no way for you to add your own custom tooltip to the FrequencyHistogram class.
No one has ever brought this up before. We don't consider a bug since it acts the way we designed it. We will consider your comments for a future release. Thanks for the feedback.

I guess my first reply would be, is there any way for me to create my own custom tooltip for the bars, and if so, how?
Failing that, I have to admit that I am somewhat surprised that no one has ever mentioned this issue before. When looking at the Frequency Histogram bars it is quite easy to tell "how many", but unfortuntately it is not at all easy to tell how many "what". I mean, depending on your data and your limits, the tooltip for a bar with an X axis center point of "20" could mean we are counting any of a wide range of possible data values such as {0,40}, {10,30}, {15,25}, {19,21} etc...
I am not sure that it is fair to immediately classify this issue as customer funded development (as opposed to a bug) since the current methodology for determining "what we are counting" with the Frequency Histogram is ambiguous at best (and I can already see myself trying to explain to clients what they are looking at). Maybe a fix for this problem should just be included in the next product update... |

You are correct, the histogram tooltip x-value returns the value the bar is positioned at, which is the center point of the bar.
Sorry, but neither of the format options you describe is an option with data tooltip of the Frequency Histogram plot. You can turn off the x-value display in the tool tip if you want, but you can't change the x-value format to what you describe. It would not be very hard for us to create a custom tool tip that would display the range format you describe - but this would involve modifying the underlying source code and would have to be done under contract. Let us know if you would like a quote.
